Goals: This safety session should teach employees to:
- Understand the risks and symptoms of ergonomic injuries
- Know basic ways to avoid ergonomic injuries.
About 1.8 million workers report musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs), such as carpal tunnel syndrome, tendonitus, and back injuries each year. About 600,000 of those workers need to take time off work because of those inuries. Work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WMSDs) occur when the physical capabilities of the worker do not match the physical requirements of the job. Prolonged exposure to ergonomic risk factors can cause damage to a worker's body and lead to WMSDs.
